A recent bus ticket advertising campaign commissioned by the West Midlands Police has encouraged hundreds of people to speak up about domestic abuse.
The campaign launched in December and ran into the New Year, with 4,761,000 adverts circulated during the period. The advert message urged victims to get in touch with someone who could help them, and also provided them with the West Midlands Police website address where they could go to access more information.
Kim Madill, Detective Inspector of the Public Protection Unit of West Midlands Police, said:
“There was a copy of the bus ticket on the front page of our website that linked visitors directly to the safeguarding information for domestic abuse victims.
“The page received 854 hits from the launch in December representing a 149% increase on our usual visitor figures for that section of the website for this time of year. We ran a similar campaign last year and the same page only received 189 hits so we’ve seen an increase of over 450%, which is a great result.”
Glenn Hayes, Our National Sales Manager, said:
“Bus ticket advertising is an effective and affordable way to get peoples attention. During the bus journey they have the time to sit, read and think about what they are being presented with on the back of the ticket.
“It is also a discreet way to highlight important issues such as domestic abuse or other public information, and it is very evident from the results of the West Midlands Police campaign that it has a positive impact on the individuals who need to seek help and advice.”
