Are you working but on a low Income? Hull City Council want to give people help who are finding the current climate difficult.

Claiming housing and council tax benefits is a lot easier than you may think.

This new advert is an awareness campaign across the city to highlight the local benefits telephone number.

Many people are eligible to claim these benefits but believe the system is too complicated.

Since April 2009 the take up team have helped 725 people in Swansea claim £374,877 worth of Council Tax Benefit. Swansea Council’s Benefits Take up Team aim to ensure that people have the information and confidence to get the financial support which is rightly theirs. With the bus ticket campaign the Take up Team hopes to have more of the local community contacting them to find out in minutes over the phone, if they to could be entitled to benefits that previously might not have been entitled.

As of the 2nd of November 2009 the rules changed in the regulations  meaning child benefit is ignored in the calculations of income and this has improve someone’s entitlement to Council Tax Benefit and Housing Benefit, particularly families with more than one child.
